Sergey Maximishin
Sergey Yakovlevich Maximishin was born in 1964. He finished school in 1982 in Kerch, Crimea. That same year, he enrolled in the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute, specializing in Experimental Nuclear Physics. From 1985 to 1987, he served in the Soviet Army as a photographer at the military club of the Group of Soviet Military Specialists in Cuba. In 1988, he returned to the institute, combining his studies with work at the Laboratory of Scientific and Technical Expertise of the State Hermitage Museum. From 1996 to 1998, he studied at the Faculty of Photo Correspondents at the St. Petersburg House of Journalists. From 1999 to 2003, he worked for the newspaper Izvestia. Since 2003, he has been collaborating with the German agency Focus.
