Yuri Belinsky
Yuri Belinsky, born in 1946, lives and works in St. Petersburg.
1959 — begins attending a photography club at the Palace of Pioneers. By this time, he already knows that photography is his future profession and does everything to achieve his goal — working as a courier and postman to earn money for a camera and light meter. On assignment for LenTASS (the Leningrad branch of the TASS news agency), he takes photographs and pitches stories about school life.
From 1967 — photojournalist for the Leningrad branch of the TASS news agency; later, the staff photojournalist for ITAR-TASS in Leningrad (St. Petersburg) and the Leningrad region.
Yuri Belinsky is a two-time winner of the "Golden Eye" award at the international World Press Photo contest for his photographs "The Birth of a Giraffe at the Leningrad Zoo" and "Bosom Friends" (the clown Karandash with his little dogs).
