Alexander Belenky

Graduate of the Faculty of Photo Correspondents. Worked for the newspapers IzheretsSmena, and Kommersant during the peak perestroika years. Joined the English-language The St. Petersburg Times in the mid-1990s. Collaborated with magazines OgonyokDomovoy, and Newsweek, and created covers and other work for the newspaper Puls. Published in The Sunday TimesThe Boston Globe, and The New York Times. Has shot and continues to shoot for Finnish and Swedish publications: HufvudstadsbladetIlta SanomatTalloselamma. Worked as a photographer on Alexander Sokurov's film Russian Ark.

In 2006, Piter Publishing House released his book on photography with the modest title Photography, School of Mastery. To the author's great regret, the print run sold out quickly, and he was compelled to write a new one – Digital Photography, which was published in 2009 and reprinted in 2010. In 2011, another book was published: Photography in Challenging Conditions.

In 2008, he participated in creating the book about Cyprus Journey Through the Blessed Island, and in 2010 he assisted in creating the travel guide to Rome Journey to the Eternal City.

Currently a lecturer at St. Petersburg State University, Faculty of Journalism, and continues to shoot for publications as before.
